The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), a Canadian non-profit organization, is excited to invite students across Canada to participate in the 9th Annual ERA Kids Poster Contest 2026.
The contest runs from September 1 to December 15, 2026 and gives students an opportunity to combine creativity with environmental education while learning about sustainability, electronics reuse, recycling, and the importance of reducing electronic waste.
What is the purpose of the contest?
ERA created the Kids Poster Contest to encourage young people to think about the environmental impact of waste and how the principles of the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle can help create a more sustainable future.
Through their artwork, students are encouraged to explore how everyday actions such as extending the life of electronics, reusing devices, recycling responsibly, and reducing unnecessary waste can make a positive difference.
The contest also connects students with ERA’s mission of reducing electronic waste and giving unwanted technology a second life through recovery, refurbishment, reuse, recycling, and computer donation programs.
Who can participate?
The contest is open to school-aged students across Canada, including:
- Elementary school students
- Junior high/middle school students
There is no cost to participate.
What should students create?
Students should create an original poster inspired by the theme:
Reduce • Reuse • Recycle
The artwork should show what the 3Rs mean to the student and how reducing waste, reusing materials or electronics, and recycling responsibly can help protect the environment.
Posters should also connect in some way to ERA’s mission of reducing electronic waste and supporting technology reuse.
The ERA logo must be included in the artwork.
Students may create their artwork by hand and have it photographed or scanned, or create their poster digitally.
How do students enter?
Entries are submitted online by a teacher on behalf of the student.
Teachers can submit their students’ completed posters and find the full submission information through ERA’s official contest page

Teachers are encouraged to incorporate the contest into classroom activities related to art, environmental education, science, sustainability, technology, or eco clubs.
How are winners selected?
The contest includes a public voting component.
Students, teachers, schools, families, and communities can help share entries and encourage others to vote.
Public voting is an important part of the selection process, alongside ERA’s final review. Eligible artwork must meet the contest requirements and reflect ERA’s environmental mission.
What can students win?
There will be 100 winners for every 1,000 eligible entries received.
Each winning student will receive a high-quality refurbished laptop from ERA.
