The Canadian Museum of History is hosting a webinar with curriculum specialists and community experts in Black Canadian history where participants will learn how to incorporate the history and contributions of the Black Canadian community into their lesson plans.
From the Canadian Museum of History:
Natasha Henry-Dixon, historian and educator, Handel Wright, Director of the Centre for Identity, Culture and Education at the University of British Columbia, and Juanita Peters, Executive Director of the Africville Museum, will take part in an engaging panel exploring how to effectively integrate Black Canadian history and community stories into your classroom. Sample resources and activities from the Canadian Museum of History’s Teachers’ Zone will be provided.
This presentation is aimed primarily at educators working with Grades 7 through 12 (secondary 1 to 5 in Quebec), no matter what course they are teaching, and no matter their familiarity or comfort level with Black Canadian history. All educators are welcome to attend, including post-secondary professors and community educators.
